Applications are invited for a 2-year postdoctoral position in the field of exoplanets and their host stars at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, Denmark. The position will be open for start-dates in early 2025.Expected start date and duration of employmentThis is a 2-year position with a negotiable start date of 01.03.2025.Job descriptionThe position will focus on exoplanet host stars, exploiting data from facilities such as Kepler and TESS. The primary tasks could include:

  • Detecting (weak) asteroseismic signals in solarlike exoplanet host stars, exploiting machine learning and/or noise mitigation techniques.
  • Studying particularly interesting systems in detail.
  • Investigating star-planet interactions for planets close to their host star.

While there will also be time to pursue other lines of related research, the postdoc is expected to collaborate closely with the other members of the Astronomy group at the department.Your profileThe applicant should hold a PhD in astronomy or similar and have experience in handling data. In addition, the applicant should have expertice in asteroseismology, astrophysical noise sources, machine learning or star-planet interactions. Demonstrated ability to publish in relevant astrophysics journals and a strong oral and written proficiency in English is considered essential.
