Job description

Offer DescriptionWe are seeking for a motivated and virology-interested researcher for a post-doc position in the Department of Molecular Virology in the OPUS project funded by the National Science Centre (the project description can be found at ).The selected candidate will investigate novel regulatory mechanisms involved in the HPV infectious entry mechanism, with a particular focus on post-translational modifications, specifically ubiquitination, of the major capsid protein L1. This research aims to enhance understanding of the HPV life cycle and identify potential new approaches for preventing infection. The ubiquitin-conjugating system plays an essential role in the regulation of many cellular pathways and infection of different viruses. Targeting the components of the ubiquitin-conjugative system by small molecular regulators could provide a unique opportunity for the development of therapeutics for the treatment of HPV infection, which is currently dismal. The research will include standard biochemical and molecular biology methods upgraded in advanced methods such as live-cell imaging, high-throughput screening (HTS), pseudoviral particles (PsVs) production, and 3D organotypic raft culture models. Previous experience with all these methods is not required, as the candidate will have the opportunity to develop these skills through collaborations with leading research institutions in France, Slovenia, and Italy. The laboratory is based at the Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, one of a top research institution in Poland. Our team is composed of young, dynamic scientists working in a collaborative and respectful environment that emphasizes innovation, professional development, and teamwork. We are committed to creating a supportive, productive, and growth-oriented workplace.Where to apply E-mail[email protected]RequirementsResearch Field Biological sciences Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsPhD degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or related (in accordance with the Polish National Science Center Regulations, under the OPUS 25 call, the applicant had to have been awarded a PhD degree in an institution other than AMU or had completed at least 10 months, continuous and documented foreign postdoctoral fellowship, moreover, the obligatory formal criterion for admission to the call is to be awarded a PhD degree in the year of employment in the project or within 7 years before 1 January of the year employment in the project).Specific RequirementsCandidates must meet the eligibility requirements laid down in the NCN regulations for the OPUS 25 call:Also: * Strong knowledge and expertise in biochemistry, proteomics, molecular biology, and cell biology.
