Job description

Offer DescriptionWork environment:Université de Montpellier, Institut des Sciences de l’Evolution de Montpellier (ISEM) – Macroevolution and Development TeamMain mission:The person recruited for this position will be in charge of analyzing the transcriptomic data already produced, in complete autonomy. The proximal objective is to determine precisely the transcriptomic signature of a developing tissue, in this case teeth, in time and space, within a known phylogenetic framework. The overall aim of the project is to link morphological variations with differences in transcriptomic profiles and to identify preferential covariation modules. The main mission will be to assemble transcriptomic data and then carry out comparative analyses in complete autonomy. This will involve generating temporal transcriptomic profiles for each developmental stage and species, and then run the comparative analysis within a constrained phylogenetic framework.Activities:– bioinformatics analyses of transcriptomic data assembly (main task)– statistical analyses of transcriptomic data: comparative analyses between consecutive developmental stages and in an interspecific comparison within a constrained phylogenetic framework (main task)– bibliographical analysis of methods applicable to the types of data handled (secondary task)– writing of scientific publications (main task)– presentation of results at conferencesWhere to apply E-mail[email protected]RequirementsResearch Field Biological sciences » Biodiversity Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/Qualifications– Solid skills in molecular biology: DNA sequences, transcription (expert level)– Solid skills in evolutionary biology: evolutionary processes of gene expression regulation, phylogenetics (expert level)– R language (expert level: we are looking for someone who is completely autonomous and has already implemented R-based analysis of very large transcriptomic datasets)– Knowledge of transcriptomic data analysis pipelines (expert level: we are looking for someone who is completely autonomous and has already implemented the assembly and analysis of very large transcriptomic datasets)– Writing scientific articles in English and presenting results at conferences (expert level)Research Field Biological sciences » BiodiversityAdditional InformationEligibility criteria– PhD required in biologySelection processSent your CV and cover letter before July 11th of 2024 by email atWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute Institut des Sciences de l’Evolution de Montpellier (ISEM) Country France City Montpellier Postal Code 34090 GeofieldContact CityMontpellier WebsiteStreet163 rue Auguste Broussonnet Postal Code34000 E-Mail[email protected]STATUS: EXPIREDShare this page
