EDF generates low-carbon electricity around the world and plans to double its renewable capacity by 2030, from 28 GW (including hydro) to 50 GW, as part of its strategic project “CAP 2030”.For further details, please visit EDF Renewables website https://www.edf-renouvelables.com/en/Job descriptionThe continuous growth of EDF Renewables, along with the increasing complexity and size of projects, brings light to the need for a common approach in order to establish and ensure steadiness and consistency, leverage on the projects volumes and capitalize on experience in real time.As a response to that, EDF Renewables is seeking for its the Industry Division aPMO PROJECT DIRECTOR APAC – RENEWABLE ENERGY (M/F)Main duties of the role include setting up/leading a technical team and preparation of proposals and bid submissions, the optimization of CAPEX/OPEX estimates and time baselines, the analysis of threats and the opportunities, the negotiation and the contracting of the execution phase, support to and monitoring of project delivery teams while ensuring consistency and alignment with the requirements, standards and policies of EDF Renewables Group and in particular those of the Industry Division, as well the technological developments of the Sector.You will also advise and provide direct support to the community of international project managers on technical and project management issues (tools, methods, learnings, etc.) and as well advise and assist sponsors and project directors in the definition and application of governance processes, in alignment with the EDF Group policies.Reporting to the PMO Area Manager of Asia Pacific (APAC), you will undertake some of the responsibilities, tasks and duties listed below:Be responsible to foster a pro-active Health and Safety culture within the project organizations and Units of his/her perimeter as well with the main contractors, subcontractors and suppliers;Follow all the on-going projects/technical workstreams on the area;Ensure a consistent approach (technical) on all the projects of the area, in alignment of the good practices, policies and guidelines of the Industry Division;Support and mentor the Project Managers of your portfolio when necessary;Become the direct “escalation line” for technical matters for the area;Be the representative of the Industry Division for the area, at project level;Set out and selectively participate in the governance bodies of the projects of the area;Assess and ensure the portfolio impact and value creation against strategic directives;Provide appropriate recommendations or options for action;Influence and manage the process of resource allocation.At the same time, depending on the project specifics and the global workload he/she might:Act as technical leader for complex large scale projects in APAC region; including international tenders, renewable auctions, contracting, etc, ensuring always the technical solution proposed is optimized, at acceptable risk level and in line with renewable technology roadmaps and the EDF Renewables good practices and policies;Organize and monitor project reviews, peer reviews, technical rescue missions to support projects of your perimeter;Manage Industrial Improvement plans; define and follow-up on supporting actions to be provided to key countries for integration and continuous improvement in their development, construction and operation activities in alignment with Industry’s Policies and guidelines;Support and assist project teams of the Group on technical and project management mattersTrain and mentor PMO project managersOversee and coordinate the project managers during implementation;Review the portfolio for balance (e.g., short term versus long term or risk versus return) and negotiate agreements with relevant strategic stakeholders;Support the project managers of your perimeter regarding project management processes, tools and methodsReceive information on project performance and progress;Support and assist Project Managers and Sponsors to set-up and enforce project governance principles on selected projects across the group in order to ensure consistency with group policies and best practices;Facilitate and occasionally participate in strategic or operational bodies; project boards or technical steering committees, andDevelop and maintain an executive “cockpit” of the portfolio and report portfolio progress to the PMO VP.The position contributes to the regular updates of the “Industry pipeline” with the workstreams of your perimeter and communicates information and recommends criteria for governance actions and decisions; such as deciding when programs and projects should proceed, be reprioritized, be changed to adapt to strategic changes, be terminated, or be suspended before the originally planned completion dates.As portfolio manager you will need to be aware of how the portfolio is related to the organizational vision, mission, and strategic goals, and identify, assess, and measure the business value that the portfolio is adding to the organization’s objectives. Throughout the portfolio life cycle, the portfolio manager should be able to manage threats and opportunities, monitor and prioritize portfolio projects, resolve issues that need senior-level attention, develop and improve processes and apply organizational knowledge and management skills.Skills & Qualities requiredThe successful candidate should have a Master’s degree in Engineering, Business management or equivalent and minimum 10 years of experience in a project management position delivering Renewable Energy services. A proven successful previous International experience is a must.Added to that you have a significant and relevant experience in Renewable Energy Projects with emphasis on both the upstream phase (competitive bidding, contracting, pre-construction…) and the downstream phase (project delivery monitoring, support to local project teams…) to undertake the technical lead responsibility and manage the technical workstreams of the various projects at the upstream phase and perform project monitoring and support at the downstream phase, applying an “APAC project portfolio” approach.COMPETENCIESProject Management: understands the application of all related Knowledge Areas (scope, cost, time, quality, HSE, risk, communications, etc), able to coordinate several workstreams running in parallel. PMP certification is a plus.Technical Management: understands common fields of engineering (civil, electrical) with strong knowledge and understanding of Solar, Wind and Storage technologies and in general the renewables Sector..Contract Management: understands interactions between contract and project management. Familiar with the contractual schemes and frameworks used in the Sector; incl.
