Job descriptionPMLD Teaching Assistant – Blackburn – ASAPProspero Teaching are seeking a teaching assistant to join a school in Blackburn as soon as possible to support young people with Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). The role will be on a full time basis and will be for the rest of the current school year, so will end in July 2025.The organisation caters for young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The students will need support in engaging with their specialised provision. You will need to be able to foster strong relationships with the students and have a passion for supporting those with special needs.Consistency is key to the childrens learning so it is essential that you are able to commit to the role n its entirety.The ideal candidate:A recent graduate who wants work experience within Special Educational Needs
Experience of supporting pupils with SEN (ideally PMLD) on a voluntary or paid basis OR/ experience of supporting those with complex needs in a care setting
Strong teamwork ethic
Driven, energetic and keen to pursue a career in education and special needs
Up to date safeguarding training issued in the last 12 months (essential but training can be provided)
Up to date prevent awareness & FGM training in the last 3 years (essential, but, training can be provided)
Up to date behaviour management training (desirable, however, training can be provided)The role will consist of:Providing tailored support and working with children with SEN and complex needs
Personal care is involved
Creating a safe environment that allows children and other students have fun, learn and succeed
