The Plant Microbiology Coordinator is responsible for leading the site’s microbiological control programs and laboratory operations while integrating key quality management systems. This role ensures that all production and laboratory activities conform to Corporate Quality Standards (specifically QS 023), regulatory requirements, and local environmental regulations. The Plant Microbiologist is also responsible for developing and implementing the site micro control program in

partnership with other functions (Operations & Engineering). Additional responsibilities include supporting Water & critical utilities and Cleaning & Sanitization programs within the plant, supporting sites’ audit programs including OSQ audits, KPI reporting,  leveraging data analytics, and supporting shop floor training and documentation through digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities (with suggested AI & Digital details):

-Develops & implements a microbiological sampling and testing program for water, raw materials, work-in-process(WIP), environmental samples & finished products at the facility.

-Ensures all testing is performed according to Corporate methods and policy and adheres to good microbiological practices. This includes the set up and administration of a laboratory quality assurance system that covers method and material qualification as well as equipment IQ/OQ/PQ,calibration & maintenance.

-Understands and uses basic laboratory safety equipment and instructions, precautions in handling and disposing of biological materials, in accordance with local environmental regulations.

-Ensures accurate reporting, documentation, and interpretation of microbiological data, communicating results effectively to management.

-In partnership with operations & engineering, develops and implements plant floor micro control programs based on the C&S Guidelines, Control Point Monitoring, Micro Susceptibility Index and Process and Water Validation.

-Trains & develops the laboratory staff using the principles of Coaching & Feedback

-Develops & implements microbiology training for plant floor management and operators. 

-Provide microbiological support in the validation of the water system  and Assist with Cleaning & Sanitization validations for products and equipment.

-Manage Microbiology Laboratory Out of Specification (OOS) situations and support plant failure investigations, Corrective and Preventive Actions.

-Report micro incidents that occur to the Division in the QAMPI global base and to the involved area managers.

-Interface with Global & Divisional Quality/Microbiology teams to provide input on programs, procedures and methods, and receive guidance & support on implementation of programs.

Additional Responsibilities:

-Maintains the site’s Document Control System to ensure adherence to corporate Quality Standards and good documentation practices.

-Leads the site’s internal and external Quality Audit Programs including On-Shelf Quality to ensure conformance with standards.

-In the absence of Plant Analytical Lab Coordinator,lead laboratory analysts, review and approve test results for analytical release.

-Support the Site Technology Transfer and Management of Change program.

-Follow-up and execute actions related with EOHS,FP&R and Quality Standards

-Lead or support investigations and root cause analyses for out-of-specification or non-conformance results

Required Qualifications (with digital skills addition):

-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, or related scientific disciplines

-Must include significant course work in Microbiology (at least four courses).

-Min 3 years of industrial experience (Personal Care, Pharmaceutical and Food) . This experience should include working in a manufacturing environment both in a lab and with exposure to plant floor micro control programs

-Strong knowledge of quality systems, documentation practices, and regulatory standards (GMP, GLP, ISO, etc.)

-Fluency in English both written and spoken

-Excellent organizational, written, communication, and problem-solving skills

-Experience working in cross-functional teams

-Good knowledge of MS Office, Google tools, and experience with digital lab management systems

-Ability to lead, supervise, and train laboratory personnel, including the use of digital training platforms

Preferred Qualifications (enhanced):

-Experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.

-Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) or quality management software

-Experience with regulatory audits and external customer or supplier audits
