PhD student position available in cardiometabolic epidemiology, Center for Clinical Research and Prevention, Frederiksberg Hospital, DenmarkWe would like to invite applications for a PhD position in the project “Intergenerational pathways to cardiometabolic disease”, which is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.The student will use an epidemiological approach to investigate how body size in early life and childhood and other relevant exposures relate to the subsequent risk of obesity and cardiometabolic disease. In particular, this PhD project will focus on the interplay between early life growth and socioeconomic status on the risk of a range of cardiometabolic disease risk factors in young adulthood. The project may include participating in data collection and/or curation and will be tied closely to work performed in a hospital-based clinic that treats children with obesity. The work will also be conducted using existing data from Danish studies, cohorts, and national registers. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the design and conduct of a series of studies within this project.We offerThe position is available at the Center for Clinical Research and Prevention (CCRP) at Frederiksberg Hospital, which is an internationally renowned research Center and part of the Copenhagen University Hospital. The aim of the CCRP is to conduct high-level research and provide education that contributes to improving knowledge about the prevention of disease and the promotion of health. The candidate will join an integrated group of PhDs, postdocs, senior researchers and professors based at the Center. The candidate will interact with these researchers from various scientific disciplines (including biostatistics, epidemiology, health promotion and medicine) and actively contribute to the research environment at the Center.Further, the candidate will also work closely with researchers at the Center for Basic and Metabolic Research at the University of Copenhagen and clinicians at Holbæk Hospital.We expectApplicants for this research position should have a Master’s degree in e.g. biological sciences, epidemiology, human nutrition, medicine, public health, or statistics.A successful applicant will have experience in epidemiological techniques, participation in research collaborations and knowledge of statistical techniques. Good communication, writing, and organizational skills are required. The candidate will be expected to interact with the research group, collaborate with internal and external researchers and to seek grant support to expand the research program.Terms of employmentThe position is full time and limited to 3 years with the possibility of extension depending on resources.
