Job description

Job Description:Are you fascinated by the possibilities of employing neural networks in computer vision? Would you like to develop methods with the potential to address critical societal challenges? Would you thrive in an innovation-centric environment that bridges academia and industry. If so, read on!We are seeking applicants for a 3-year PhD position to join the DEXTRA research project, funded by Innovation Fund Denmark. As a PhD student, you will be enrolled in the PhD school at DTU Compute and affiliated with the Visual Computing Section. Much of your work will be carried out at the Danish Technological Institute, where DEXTRA project is managed.Responsibilities and tasks
The overreaching objective of DEXTRA project is to develop X-ray imaging solution for integration into robotic meat deboning plants. Your PhD project will focus on developing reconstruction and analysis method capable of determining 3D tissue composition (bone, meat, fat, air) from a limited number of projections, while ensuring sufficient accuracy. To achieve this, we plan to develop CT reconstruction leveraging pre-trained neural fields. The biggest part of your work will involve developing and adapting deep learning algorithms such that they can be applied to the data obtained from X-ray imaging. You will collaborate closely with the team designing the appropriate imaging station. The 3D reconstructions you generate will serve as guidance for the deboning robot. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the team developing the robotic solution. As a PhD student, you will actively participate in a structured PhD program where you will follow courses, engage in dissemination activities, and carry out research activities.Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you need a solid background in natural sciences (mathematics and physics), demonstrated proficiency in programming (Python), and deep learning methods (for example implemented in PyTorch). You need to document these skills by detailing relevant university courses completed or the relevant experience gained.Additionally, experience in 2D and 3D image analysis, tomographic reconstruction, and high-performance computing, is highly advantageous. You must have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see .We offer
