Satellite SAR and MSI imagery can surveil the enormous Arctic and maritime areas with advanced deep neural networks for object detection, classification and identification. Coupled with AIS, RF and other sensor systems, advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance can be built to protect the Kingdom of Denmark. Algorithms are developed to distinguish ships from icebergs and skerries and find oil spills. Advanced face recognition algorithms are developed to identify ships from space.DAS systems in seabed optical fibers can monitor ships, whales, waves, and seismic activity in real-time. Similar detection, classification and ID methods used for satellite data can be used for DAS. Combined as additional sensor fusion, they provide advanced surveillance from space to seabed.Responsibilities and qualifications
Your main tasks will be
Your qualifications must include a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) in Engineering or Physics, or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.Furthermore, we require that you have experience with satellite data analysis using AI.Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see .Assessment
