Offer DescriptionJob positionPhD PositionProject Title: Synthesis, characterization, and guiding of ferro- and ferrimagnetic mesoporous nanowiresObjectives: Synthesis of single-layered mesoporous ferromagnetic nanowires by electrodeposition (e.g., Fe-Mn). Attempts to produce multilayered nanowires with mesoporous layers will be made. Characterization of the magnetic properties of nanowires and their degradation in relevant environments.Expected results: Successful synthesis of nanowires with homogeneous mesoporosity, capable to contain drugs. Suitable magnetic properties for their magnetic guiding. Biodegradability proven in relevant environments (e.g., bodily fluids).The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), located in Bellaterra, is one of the major public universities in Spain. UAB is also the hub of UAB Sphere, a knowledge ecosystem that includes research centres (most located on the UAB’s campus), local businesses, authorities, and the largest hospital network in Catalonia, collaborating in the social and economic development of the region.UAB has over 40,000 students (including 5,000 foreign students) and almost 6,000 researchers and teaching staff. UAB offers 117 bachelor’s degrees, 149 master’s degrees, 9 Erasmus Mundus master’s degrees and 74 doctoral programs. More than 700 dissertations are defended per year.GREENS project is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Network that offers the possibility to pursue the PhD across various universities, research centers, and companies throughout Europe. The duration of the appointment is 3 years, commencing in September 2025, if feasible. The employment contract for the doctoral candidate will include a gross salary of €2400, as well as a monthly mobility allowance of €600.
