Offer DescriptionIRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated PhD candidate to join the Postharvest Program. We invite applications from ambitious candidates with passion to conduct research and innovation activities on the topic related to computer vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to fruit postharvest pathogens detection using hyperspectral technology (AGROLAB project). The candidate will investigate the optimal wavelength needed to detect fungal diseases and will develop new methodologies for the early identification of fruit pathologies at postharvest. This objective will be achieved by conducting experiments for the detection of a wide range of diseases that affect fruit using the technology based on the hyperspectral cameras Fx-10 and Fx-17. In all cases, factors that can affect the camera sensibility, such as the kind of fruit or variety, level of infection development, temperature… will be determined. Besides, studies will also be conducted to develop an AI-based decision support system (DSS) to predict the risk of diseases on fruit during postharvest.– To contribute to the activities related to the analysis of the research line, performing scientific and technical tasks, and taking part in the planning and execution of the experiments to ensure the achievement of milestones of the research projects linked to the PhD project.
