Do you want to develop top edge early drug discovery platforms, embedded in a young and enthusiastic research group? With us you will combine organic synthesis, combinatorial chemistry and high throughput assays to discover hit compounds for challenging drug targets. Your work at the interface of chemistry and biology will prepare you for a competitive scientific career, both in academia and in the industry. We offer a full-time appointment of initially one year. After a positive evaluation of the progress of the research, teaching evaluations, personal capabilities and compatibility, the appointment will be extended for another three years. You will be appointed in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. The salary ranges from €2.770,- per month in the first year to €3.539,- gross per month in the fourth year based on a full-time position (pay scale P).In addition, Leiden University has good employment conditions. For example, there is an end-of-year bonus (8.3%), holiday allowance (8%), excellent training facilities, paid parental leave and the option to choose tailor-made employment conditions via a selection model. Candidates from outside the Netherlands may be eligible for a substantial tax break.All our PhD students are embedded in the Leiden University Graduate School of Science. Our graduate school offers several PhD training courses at three levels: professional courses, skills training and personal effectiveness. You will be working in the modern laboratories at the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR). In the context of the Marie Curie Doctoral Network program you will have the opportunity to spend part of your PhD in the Heinis Lab (EPFL Lausanne) and at Astra Zeneca (Molndal, Sweden).
