Ph.D. student position at Department of Clinical Immunology, Zealand University Hospital, Zealand RegionPosition as Ph.D. student at the Department of Clinical Immunology, Zealand University Hospital, Zealand RegionWe have a position as Ph.D. student available from 2025-01-01 for a 3-year study on epidemiology and genetics of the skin disease rosacea.The position is temporary and runs for 36 months. The position entails 37 hours of work per week, with working hours between 08:00 – 15:24 on weekdays. However, the research project can also require that you work on evenings/weekends.The position is at the Department of Clinical Immunology, Næstved Hospital. However, in 2025 we will move the department and research to Zealand University Hospital, Køge. The student will be enrolled at a Ph.D. school at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Copenhagen University. The position is funded by the Leo Foundation.The research will aim at determining:

• Genetic factors involved in rosacea using genome wide association study workflow.
• Epidemiology of rosacea and rosacea disease trajectories.

The genetic studies are done in collaboration with deCODE Genetics, Iceland and it is expected that the Ph.D. student will visit deCODE genetics for a period of 6-12 months during the Ph.D. study for in depth genetic studies. The study is also done in collaboration with Professor Gregor Jemec, Professor Ditte Marie Saunte and postdoctoral researcher Rune Kjærsgaard Andersen from the Department of Dermatology in Roskilde and Gentofte. The student will also be supervised and mentored by main supervisor professor Ole Birger Vesterager Pedersen and postdoctoral researchers at Department of Clinical Immunology, Næstved Hospital who are experts in genetics, bioinformatics and epidemiology.The Ph.D. student will be in responsible for managing the project, do the statistical genetic, epidemiological and system biology analyses, in addition to disseminate the scientific work both at conferences and in peer-reviewed scientific articles. In addition, the Ph.D. student will have to attend specific Ph.D. courses as required by Copenhagen University. The Ph.D. student is free to decide on and pursue specific research angles within the scope of this work. The Ph.D. student will collaborate with other researchers within the research group at the Department of Clinical Immunology, Zealand University Hospital, the Departments of Dermatology as well as the other researchers within the Danish Blood Donor Study.

We are looking for the following qualifications in the candidate:

• Clinical dermatology, clinical immunology or a related clinical field
• Epidemiology, genetics or bioinformatics
• Documented ability to plan, collaborate, execute and successfully complete projects

• Degree in medicine, bioinformatics or similar
• Experience with writing scientific articles
• Excellent collaborative skills
• A positive and motivating attitude
• Diligence and intellectual flexibility as required for an academic position
