SEN Teaching Assistant
📍 Location: Darwen, Lancashire
💷 Salary: £11.72 – £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £20,941.30 – £22,835.30, based on experience)
⏰ Hours: 40 hours per week – Term Time OnlyWe are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. In this role, you will support students aged 10-19 with complex needs, including Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and related conditions, helping them thrive in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.The RoleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. Working closely with the class teacher, you will assist in delivering personalised learning activities that promote independence, positive behaviour, and overall well-being.Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and evaluation of lessons and learning activities.
  • Provide regular feedback on student progress and achievements.
  • Monitor and report on individual students, ensuring alignment with school policies.
  • Support positive behaviour management, adapting to meet the needs of each student.
  • Promote students’ social, emotional, and personal growth.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for student transport).
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) – essential.
  • Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Creative, adaptable, and able to tailor support to meet individual needs.
