Granular is a fast-growing climate tech startup paving the way towards a carbon-free grid.

We provide a SaaS portfolio management platform to electricity companies and suppliers. The platform helps solve the complex issue of hourly matching between clean energy generation and consumption, at scale. You can find out more about the 24/7 energy space in this article.

Initially founded in 2021, our team is now approaching 30 people. We have clients in the US, Europe, and Asia, but our team is primarily located in western Europe. Following an oversubscribed funding round in 2023, we have plenty of runway.

This is your opportunity to work on a product that’s creating a pathway to a fully clean energy grid. Your efforts will have a direct and sizeable contribution on the climate crisis!

 

What’s the mission of this role?

We are looking for a Junior People Manager, reporting directly to the COO, to join our growing team and set up strong People processes and culture! As the first HR person in the team, you will be really instrumental in setting up Granular Energy everything-People. This is a role for passionate “builders”!

 

Who we are looking for!

Main responsibilities of this role

  • Start at the start with compliance & admin, including helping us setting up the new HRIS, or contract and payroll management
  • Drive and champion initiatives to craft a remote, positive and inclusive company culture
  • Own & improve our recruitment process, including management of “Employer of Record” relationship.
  • Monitor and enhance employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Slowly but surely build all People processes across the whole employee journey
  • Plan and co-design our three annual All-hands retreats

 

What we are looking for

  • 3-4 years of experience in People roles (HR), preferably in a generalist role
  • Demonstrated experience implementing a remote operating culture
  • Great knowledge of People (HR) best practices and employment laws in Europe
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • Startup/scale-up environment (10 to 250+ employees) experience in startup and/or remote environments is a strong plus
  • Fluent English speaker, bonus for other European languages
  • A high degree of curiosity for the climate sector (bonus points for the energy sector too)

Remote-first @ Granular Energy

Granular Energy is a remote-first organisation and this role is 100% remote. We hire employees that live in mainland Western & Central-West Europe (e.g. France, Germany, Austria, northern Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, northern Spain, or mainland UK) so they can get to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, or London by train within a reasonable time frame. What we consider a reasonable time frame is at most, an overnight train ride, and not over. Having many changes and too many hours in transport would impact the employee overall health, and ability to work well.

Our recruitment process

  • Initial 30-minute screening call
  • Structured interviews with 3-4 members of the Granular Energy team
  • Take home assignment: this is a timed test for you to do at home
  • Take home test debrief call with the COO
  • Final interview with a member of the executive team
