Pastoral Mentor with excellent communication skills and the resilience to support a range of students pastorally is required to join a well-established Academy Trust based in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire.Training Provided – Whilst previous experience in a similar role is desirable, it is not essential for this role as training will be provided.Applications are welcomed from individuals considering entering a career in teaching.SALARY: £22,737 per annum FTE / Actual Annual Salary £18,446 per annumLOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, HampshireJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm, Term Time only (39 weeks)JOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a motivated and committed Pastoral Mentor with excellent communication skills and the resilience to support a range of students pastorally.Working as the Pastoral Mentor you will help students to maximise their potential and will play a vital part in ensuring their well-being and academic success.As the Pastoral Mentor you will have the passion to enable students to develop their character and become well rounded and independent individuals. You will work closely with the Pastoral Team and Year Heads to provide students with the support they need to thrive.Your responsibilities as the Pastoral Mentor will include:

  • Student Support: You will act as a key point of contact for students, providing individualised support and guidance on a range of personal, social and emotional issues
  • Mentoring: You will develop positive relationships with students, offering one-to-one mentoring and building their confidence and self-esteem
  • Monitoring and Early Intervention: You will work with the Pastoral Team to identify students who may be facing challenges and implement early intervention strategies
  • Collaboration: You will liaise closely with Year Heads, teachers, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to student support
  • Personal Development: You will track student progress and maintain confidential records, contributing to the development of personalised support plans
  • Community Building: You will contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment where all students feel valued and supported

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a genuine interest in the welfare and development of young people
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and listening skills
  • Are a patient, empathetic and reliable individual with a positive and caring approach
  • Are a strong advocate for safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children
  • Are a team player with a collaborative approach and a commitment to confidentiality
  • Have experience working with young people in a pastoral care setting (desirable but not essential)
