Offer DescriptionThe Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research center in the Autonomous region of Catalonia in Northern Spain dedicated to increasing scientific knowledge and transferring it to improve the care and lives of patients. IGTP is a CERCA center and is also accredited as a center of excellence by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and is in charge of coordinating the management and scientific strategy of the campus, working in close collaboration with the other centers.The IGTP is looking for a highly-motivated experienced researcher of any nationality interested in applying for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship call (HORIZON-MSCA-2024-PF-01) -action information – to work at the Oncology Translational Research Group on advancing our understanding of ovarian cancer (OC) and developing innovative immunotherapeutic strategies. OC is a formidable challenge in gynecologic oncology, and this project aims to develop novel treatment options by exploring the tumor microenvironment (TME) and potential biomarkers associated with treatment responses.The emerging Oncology Translational Research (OTR) Group, led by Dr Barretina, started the ovarian cancer (OC) research line in 2021. Since then, the laboratory has focused on generating genomic data to better understand drug resistance and developing new preclinical models. We have developed OC PDOs from solid tumors and ascites and generated spatial transcriptomics data from OC samples. In the context of ovarian cancer, the OTR group collaborates actively with clinicians as well as research groups from our institution and others such as the Institut Josep Carreras (IJC), the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and several hospitals where the Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO).MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:The candidate will work on immuno-oncology in ovarian cancer, which includes developing new software and/or using state-of-the-art structural bioinformatics software to study spatial transcriptomics data, software integration, use of the available experimental data and machine learning methods, drug design, and supporting experimental biomedical research.The candidate will also act as a liaison with several ongoing collaborations of our group with other local experts in computer science.S/he will also participate in conducting research and entire publication process, as well as participate in determining research strategies and new research directions.Where to apply E-mail[email protected]RequirementsResearch Field Biological sciences » Biology Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Computer science » Other Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsCandidate must comply with the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 (HORIZON-MSCA-2024-PF-01) eligibility set by the call:

• Supported fellows must be in possession of doctoral degree. At the call deadline (11-09-2024), supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years full time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date that the researcher was in a possession of a doctoral degree and certified by appropriate documents.
• Nationality: Any.
• Mobility: The researcher must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host organization for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline.
• Researchers wishing to reintegrate from a third country must either be based in a third country at the call deadline, or have moved directly from a third country to an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country within the last 12 months before the call deadline.
• Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken).
• Candidates with an outstanding record of Research achievements and publications.

Specific RequirementsSpecific technical experience:

• Ph.D. in life science/computer science or equivalent.
• Strong academic background in life sciences, oncology, immunology, or a related field.
• Previous experience in data analysis.
• Enthusiasm for translational research.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Scientific productivity will be highly valued.
