A senior consultant with expertise in the oil and gas mid/downstream sector and familiarity with methane detection, quantification and mitigation is needed to support the engagement of mid/downstream companies in the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 and to provide technical advice and support to OGMP 2.0 member companies and to the Programme Manager in charge of OGMP 2.0.
– Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in environmental, sciences or engineering relevant field.
PhD is an asset; – A first university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
– At least ten years of relevant work experience in an environmental science, policy analysis, environmental advocacy or related field; – Track record of working with the oil and gas sector, including deep knowledge of mid/downstream installations: – Expertise with methodologies and technologies for the detection, quantification and mitigation of methane emissions within the O&G industry: – Intellectual agility and comfort with working on a wide variety of environmental topics; – Experience / knowledge of remote sensing and top-down measurement technologies a plus; – Ability to work independently and support a multi-disciplinary team, using independent judgement to plan, prioritize and organize a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment;
– For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English.
Additional languages are an asset.
The consultant will perform the following tasks: 1) Regular technical calls with mid/downstream companies. 2) Technical feedback and guidance to OGMP member companies and UNEP team in charge of OGMP 2.0 3) Lead the review and analyse OGMP companies’ annual reporting (with focus on implementation plans)
