Offer DescriptionThe position is available at the Montpellier Institute of Functional Genomics (CNRS UMR5203) in the ‘Cerebrovascular and Glial Research’ team led by Nicola Marchi and Etienne Audinat. As part of the ANR DSRemo programme, the person recruited will be tasked with studying the role of astrocytes and inflammatory mediators in a mouse model of Dravet syndrome (DS), a genetic epileptic and developmental encephalopathy.– Carry out ex vivo (patch-clamp) and in vivo (EEG) electrophysiology experiments,
– Carry out cellular imaging experiments (confocal, STED and 2-photon microscopy),
– Carry out behavioural tests to assess cognitive deficits in the DS model, – Carry out immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridisation and molecular biology experiments (qPCR, genotyping),
– Analysing the results and ensuring their validity,
– Presenting the results in the form of reports, posters or seminars, – Writing publications,
– Contributing to the scientific watch in the field and its dissemination within the team, – Participating in the supervision of students,
– Participating in the team’s collective tasks (monitoring stocks and mouse lines).The Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle is a research centre (CNRS, Inserm, University of Montpellier) with around 280 staff – researchers, teacher-researchers, engineers, technicians, post-docs and students – working in two scientific departments, 21 research teams, 7 technology platforms and research support services. The Cerebrovascular and Glial Research team studies the cells of the neurovascular unit in the context of diseases of the central nervous system (CNS). It has the equipment needed to carry out ex vivo and in vivo electrophysiology experiments and behavioural tests. It has access to the local platforms in Montpellier for the animal facilities (I-Explore), imaging (MRI and IPAM), genomics (MGX) and histology (RHEM-Adv) required for the DSRemo project. The DSRemo ANR is coordinated by Massimo Mantegazza (IPMC Valbonne), with whom the host team works closely.
