The offered position will be part of the Technology Exploration unit in GCTIO, currently identifying and refining the mechanisms for the transition of network security technologies towards a quantum-safe environment, analyzing the implications and requirements of the main technology proposals for this transition, namely Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), with a specific focus on operational and network service aspects. To this goal, the team is participating in joint research and standardization activities at the national, European, and international levels, collaborating with other major industrial and academic players.MAIN ACTIVITIES AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION

• Define security and service models for network scenarios, applicable to Telefónica network infrastructures and services worldwide, considering quantum-safe crypto technologies.
• Develop and validate methods for validating and assessing emerging quantum-safe crypto technologies and their impact on network infrastructures and services.
• Define and execute experiments on synthetic (Network Digital Twins, NDTs) and real network environments to assess their applicability and impact.
• Propose and analyze operational models for infrastructures and services, as an evolution of current security practices.
• Explore the interoperability of different technology proposals, their integration with operational practices and the opportunities for convergence and coexistence during the transition period, as part of joint projects with vendors and researchers collaborating with Telefonica.
• Collaborate in the implementation of demonstrators and pilots of these technologies for different Telefónica business units.
• Participate, contribute, and represent Telefónica to the standardization and open-source groups related to the above activities.

EDUCATION REQUIREDGraduate, MSc or PhD in either:

• Computer Science
• Telecommunications
• Physics
• Mathematics
• Any related field

SPECIFIC SKILLS

• Ability to work in an open, international, and collaborative environment.
• Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently, focused on team goals and in coordination with it.
• Analytical, problem-solving capacities.

· Self-learning, proactive and creative attitude with respect to technology and organization challenges.TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Strong knowledge of security operational technologies (IPsec, TLS…) and practices (PKI, certificate management, key distribution…), as applied in network scenarios.
• Strong knowledge of at least one of these programming languages: Python, Java, Go, C++
• Knowledge of quantum-safe crypto proposals: PQC and QKD.
• Knowledge of network monitoring and control.
• Experience in the execution of research projects in an international environment.

EXPERIENCEExperience on following activities will be valuable:

• Networking: new technologies, protocols, and network architectures (5G and beyond)
• Software networks technologies: NFV, SDN…
• Telemetry and data modeling
• Standardization activities
