Job Description:

US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System eXtended (US BICES-X) is a cutting-edge program supporting DoD intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats to mission and coalition partners and emerging nations. With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborates with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of various network appliances and infrastructure hardware for ensuring system availability and reliability.

  • Corresponds with vendors, Internet service providers, and DISA circuit actions officers to design configurations and develop architectural plans to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the US BICES-X enterprise.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Generates KG, router, and switch configurations for SOCOM Deployable Nodes (SDN) accessing US BICES-X in deployed locations

  • Analyzes and implements DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure the security of the network architecture.

  • Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.

  • Drafts and provides input documentation on new or existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to network administration.

  • Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented user requirements.

Operational Management

  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.

  • Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

  • Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

  • May provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.

  • Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.

  • Knowledge of Data Center and Virtualization

  • Knowledge of Automation techniques and structure

  • Participates in special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related Network Engineering and Administration experience

  • Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance

  • Must have achieved a BA/BS degree or Associate degree plus 11-years directly related experience

  • Must possess a current Cisco CCNP ENCOR certification

  • Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire. Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.

  • Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)

  • Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS software and hardware features

  • Hands-on experience working with HAIPE-based encryption devices, such as KG-175 and KG-250/255

  • Knowledge and experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) VoIP/collaboration systems

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work

  • Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Great attention to detail and presentation

  • Results driven, highly efficient, energetic and highly motivated

  • The work is typically performed at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment

Must achieve and maintain the Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) as defined in the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany. In order to qualify for TESA, the candidate must have one of the following: Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of specialized experience, OR an Associate’s degree plus 7 years of specialized experience, OR A major certification plus 7 years of specialized experience, OR; 11 years of specialized experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Depending on job assignment, additional specific certifications may be required.

  • Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft

  • Knowledge and experience with data center networking

  • Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets

  • Understanding of network virtualization

  • Understanding of concepts presented in the VMware Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals course

  • Knowledge of Automation for Networks

  • Additional Experience Desirable:

  • F5 LTM BIG-IP

  • Riverbed Steelhead Optimization

  • Puppet, Ansible, Python, API based Automation

The likely salary range for this position is $88,275 – $110,400. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
