NEPTS Planner/Day Controller

The Non Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) is responsible for providing non-emergency and pre-planned transport, to and from hospitals and treatment centres for patients who have appointments at out-patient clinics, day surgery units, and day centres. The service acts as a vital link between communities and is an important and integral part of the overall package of health care provided by the Ambulance Service in Wales.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidates will be responsible for advance and on the day scheduling for all non emergency patient journeys within a specific geographical area with a high number of patient journeys per area per day, therefore good organisational skills are essential. The post holder will need to work to specific deadlines, allocate additional or late transport requests quickly and efficiently, whilst demonstrating effective utilisation of available resources. The role includes updating the scheduled work to include processing on the day amendments and reallocation of patients when required. The successful candidates will ideally have a good geographical knowledge of the South Wales area.The post will give you the opportunity to work within an extremely busy and challenging, focussed, supportive team led environment, where issues and challenges need to be dealt with in a calm and efficient manner, co-ordinating and problem solving on a daily basis makes the post both demanding and interesting.
