Role summary

The NDT Technician will be responsible for assessing the quality of Composite Propeller Blades and bearing assembly, Hub LRU complete break down and various OE and R&O components manufactured at Dowty Propellers using various techniques Ultrasonic, penetrant and eddy current.

Essential responsibilities

  • Production inspection of composite propeller blades using a range of Ultrasonic and Radiographic test techniques.

  • Complete inspections using hand-held ultrasonic probes as well as automatic inspection equipment in a production environment

  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications/standards and evaluate results

  • Document all results and findings

  • Raise any questionable defects, concerns, or uncertainties with NDT cell leader promptly

  • Engage and work directly with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and NDT Level III personnel to review defects and findings

  • Ensure compliance with all company and statutory procedures, specifications and standards including defined recording and reporting procedures.

  • Work with other NDT team members to distribute workload according to production throughput and priorities

Qualifications/requirements:

  • Good communication and writing skills

  • Good level of mathematical skills

  • Prior experience of ultrasonic inspection of composites
