The role of an MSL Manager is to provide leadership and strategic direction to the team of Medical Scientific Liaisons (MSLs) within the designated Therapeutic Area of Hematology and Oncology. The MSL Manager will work closely with the TA Medical Managers and Medical Lead to ensure the effective execution of the overall medical affairs strategy, especially with respect to medical affairs field force activities 

People Management 

  • Accountable for providing leadership, guidance and support to the MSL team members, ensuring their continued development and success
  • Accountable for coaching MSLs on a regular basis and conducting double visits 
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to promote professional growth
  • Identify training and development needs for the MSL team and facilitate appropriate learning opportunities through the tools provided by Johnson& Johnson Innovative Medicine (e.g. J&J Learn, ABC4D)
  • Foster a positive team culture, encouraging collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and excellence in performance

MSL performance management 

  • Accountable for the MSL team to deliver on all applicable MSL field KPIs such as daily interactions rate, total interactions, Med Ed event follow up rate, LS coverage, number of insights entered into CRM system by MSLs etc. 
  • Accountable for the MSL teams alignment and collaboration with the team of medical advisors and the x-functional team 
  • Accountable for the team´s adoption of strategic MSL communications topics and listening priorities 
  • Accountable for the MSLs deliverables in x-functional account planning
  • Accountable for the establishment, review and continuous adaption of individual MSL activity plans 
  • Foster collaboration of the MSL team with the GCO organization 
  • Adoption of Medical One Campaign 

The MSL manager will furthermore be accountable that individual MSLs fulfill their tasks with respect to the following points as per the MSL job description: 

  • Scientific knowledge
  • External stakeholder management
  • Internal stakeholder management:
  • Data/information generation activities
  • Data/information dissemination activities

The MSL manager will furthermore have regular interactions with key customers and other important external stakeholders such as medical associations to raise awareness of J&J products and support market access processes.

Act in full compliance with J&J Credo and HCBI principles to preserve trust and reputation towards HCP and patients using Janssen products. Ensure safety reporting requirements (timely AE/PQC reporting) as set out in company policies and SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) are met. Complete all trainings, documentation and administrative requirements in a timely, accurate and compliant manner.
