call of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship (PF) programme (deadline 11th September 2024).Zn is a promising substitute for Li in large storage applications, being safer, less critical, cheaper and easier to recycle. The project can either address improvement of its reversibility as metal anode, or on the development of sustainable cathodes, backed by operando characterization techniques such as microscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The candidate, if successful, will work under the supervision of Dr. Dino Tonti.has been involved for over 15 years in materials and functional tests for metal air batteries and flow batteries. Focus has been on 1) development of electrode materials and electrolyte formulations; 2) characterization of electrochemical processes; 3) design of novel cells and concepts, including flowing systems. Ongoing projects related to the proposed one are i) Green chemistry for a scalable Membrane-free Electrolytic Flow Battery (GreenFloBat) Spanish Government; ii) Local chemistry for sustainable and rechargeable Zn-metal batteries (SuReZiB) Spanish Government.
