call of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship (PF) programme (deadline 11th September 2024).The candidate will be involved in the study of materials and surfaces which are functionalized to study their interaction with water, allowing control over ice nucleation for various applications, including snowmaking and wastewater management. The fundamental phenomena of ice nucleation are also investigated to enhance atmospheric science and climate models. The candidate, if successful, will work under the supervision of Dr. Albert Verdaguer.Currently the group of , placed at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), is formed by 1 tenured scientist, 1 postdoc, 2 PhD students, 1 engineer and 2 undergraduate students. The group has strong collaborations with. Geology faculty of the Universitat de Barcelona; Max Plank Institute for Polymer Research (Mainz, Germany); University of Central Lancashire (UK); Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (USA) and Engineering Department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). Ongoing projects related to the proposed one are i) New materials for energy saving in the ice-making industry (MatICE); ii) Application of new materials designed for energy saving in the ice-making industry; and iii) Project for optimization of snowmaking production.Share this page
