Job Description:About the Team:EuroclearThe Risk Management (RM) division forms part of Euroclear’s second line of defense and its mission is to support Euroclear in achieving its goals and delivering its strategy through providing robust, independent oversight of risk-taking activities across the Euroclear Group.We are a team of about 100 risk professionals, based across a number of locations, including Brussels, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Krakow. Our activities cover the entire Euroclear group.The roleThe Model Validation team defines the overall model risk management framework for Euroclear and provides independent assurance to senior management and to the Board that the models are fit-for-purpose through regular validations and other key activities (including, governance). The outcomes of validations and progress on validation findings are reported to senior management and the Board on a regular basis.What You’ll Do:Reporting to the Head of Model Validation in Euroclear SA/NV, the Model Validator will have the following key responsibilities:
- Performing high-caliber initial, model change and periodic model validations, and making concrete improvement suggestions with clear value.
- Preparing validation reports and presenting validation outcomes to relevant committees.
- Working with model owners and other stakeholders to ensure that the identified issues are addressed timely and reviewing issues for closure.
- Contributing to the establishment and continuous improvement of technical standards of validations.
- Supporting the enhancement and evolution of the model risk management policy and procedures.
- Working with business and model owners to ensure all models are identified in line with the model risk management policy.
- Contributing to the maintenance of a robust, company-wide model inventory.
- Conducting initial and periodic materiality assessments of new and existing models.
- Training and embedding of the model risk management framework throughout the organization.
- Sharing technical knowledge with colleagues in and outside of Risk Management.
- Understanding the Euroclear business and its implications for choice and suitability of different modelling approaches.
- Interacting with Euroclear’s regulators, other divisions, or external consultants on model-related issues.
- Supporting the Head of Model Validation and other Model Validators in other day-to-day activities, where required.
Qualifications – ExternalWe’d love to hear from you if you are/have:Technical skills
- Master’s degree (or PhD) in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Physics, Data Science, etc.).
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience as a Model Developer or Model Validator, preferably in the Financial Services area.
- Deep understanding of advanced statistical topics (which may include expertise in specialized areas like artificial intelligence/machine learning); extensive experience in applying this knowledge in complex model development/validation projects (Banking & Financial Services).
- Proficiency with R, Python, or other programming languages.
- Understanding of foundational banking/finance knowledge, extending into more advanced topics
- Previous experience or knowledge about model risk and regulatory guidance, such as SR 11-7 and SS1/23.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (working language), as well as an ability to communicate technical matters clearly and persuasively to a non-technical audience.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing constructive working relationships with stakeholders at various levels of the organization through collaboration and dialogue.
- Proven analytical person with a systems thinking and process improvement mindset.
- Strong project management skills.
- A relevant professional certification could be considered as extra advantage (e.g., FRM).
