The Becton Centre is a specialist facility caring for young people up to 18 with complex mental health needs, offering care across three lodges:
- Emerald Lodge (ages 8-13): A nurturing space for younger children
- Sapphire Lodge (ages 13-18): Focused on teenagers navigating mental health needs
- Ruby Lodge (ages 8-18): Dedicated to young people with learning disabilities

Main duties of the job
What you’ll do
- Provide empathetic care to those who may be distressed or unable to express their needs.
- Support children and young people with daily activities, routine care, and therapeutic needs.
- Deliver tailored care plans under the guidance of a registered nurse, contributing to assessments and treatments.
- Work with a diverse team to support patients and their families.
- Create a safe, respectful environment, advocating for a positive patient experience.
- Perform essential tasks such as observations, meal support, and record-keeping.
- Develop skills in de-escalation and safe management of challenging situations

- NVQ Level 3 in healthcare or relevant clinical experience
- Health Care Support Worker Certificate
- Commitment to completing physical containment/de-escalation training
Experience

- Experience of working in patient facing environment
- Previous experience working in a Children and Young People’s mental health and/or learning disability clinical environment
- Experience of performing tasks such as observations, meal support and record-keeping
Knowledge and Skills
