About the jobAs the Italy Medical Head, General Medicines you are part of the Leadership Team and you will shape the country medical strategy & operational medical plans for an exciting & innovative portfolio, in alignment with the global and local strategy.You will also be responsible to improve medical capabilities according to the current and future needs of the company and the market, and to achieve medical leadership and competitive advantage in Italy, and thus to realize our vision:to improve public health by finding healthcare solutions for patients and through the appropriate and effective use of our products, medical devices and services utilizing the highest ethical and compliance standards.by contributing actively to drive our digital ambition in healthcare and Real World Evidence generationThe General Medicines Business Unit (BU) is focused on Autoimmune Diabetes and Transplant as core innovative areas and continuing efforts on improving the day-to-day health of millions of patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.The General Medicines Business unit is Sanofi’s largest, employing over 15,500 people worldwide, with a large geographical footprint spanning most of the countries. The Business Unit generated revenues of 15 billion Euros in 2023 (apx. 40% of the company’s revenues).General Medicines is continuously evolving to stay relevant to customers with the following strategies:Launching transformative therapies in the areas of autoimmune T1D and Transplant.Growing core assets and increasing their reach with new digital health business modelsCoupling technology with clinical expertise to better understand patient needs, empowering them to manage chronic conditions.Rebuilding pipeline through internal and external innovationBoosting omnichannel strategy for customers and patients, using data and Artificial Intelligence to personalize the engagements.Main responsibilitiesDrive the medical strategy and activities for prelaunch and launch of innovative GEM GBU products, while ensuring optimal life cycle management for all products in partnership with relevant functional counterpartsEnsure all necessary conditions are met in terms of medical strategy, planning and resourcing for successful launch of transformative therapies in autoimmune T1D and Transplant areasBuild scientific ecosystem in Italy embracing transformative therapies in aT1D and Transplant areas leveraging partnerships with relevant scientific and institutional stakeholders (key opinion leaders, external experts, health technology assessment bodies and health regulatory authorities). Maintain and reinforce the strategic & scientific position of Sanofi in the Italy healthcare ecosystemProvide strategic leadership for the medical function in Italy and partner with the business to co-create the coherent strategic action plan, ensuring scientific rigor and patient outcomesLeverage Real World data and deploy Artificial Intelligence and digital enablers to generate evidence and insights, build a foundations for a data driven decision making to improve medical affairs decisions and operational efficiency, aiming to improve patient outcomes

Develop a compelling vision for Medical Affairs in ITALY in accordance with company ‘GLocal model’ principles, aligned with global medical strategy and business objectives.Lead optimization and execution of affiliate medical plans that maximize product value. Proactively enable and drive cross-functional partnerships across medical and non-medical functions – commercial, market access, public affairs, regulatory, safety, clinical operations, R&D – to ensure building of integrated plans – including data generation – across all functions, (reports, publications, presentations to health authorities, presentations to scientific congresses, or company sponsored events)Lead the DRIVE transformation and develop high performing teams & talent pipeline. Develop agile ways of working, with a ‘customer first’ mindset, foster strong collaboration with a global Go To Market Capabilities organizationManage proactively the country medical budget. Identify synergies, propose the appropriate resource allocation for medical initiatives at General Medicines and cross-BU levelAbout youStrong track record in developing and executing medical strategy in Italy and leading a sizable medical affairs functionStrong compliance backgroundDemonstrated track record of building and maintaining a strong KOL (Key Opinion Leader) network in Italy.Experience in working across and building effective partnerships among R&D, Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Public Affairs, Safety, and RegulatoryStrategic and innovative thinking; comfortable with making bold decisions; ease to move from activity to impact.Transformative leadership: Ability to create and articulate a vision for the medical organization and embark teams in that evolutive journey.High energy, motivated, driven, with the ability to think and contribute beyond functional expertise.Influential leadership: ability to positively influence peers, senior leaders, key external stakeholders, and internal partners.Education: scientific background: i.e. Medical Degree, PhD, PharmD (MD preferred).Oral and written fluency in Italian and EnglishPursue progress, discover extraordinaryBetter is out there.
