We sit at the heart of the University experience for both learning and research and are fully committed to widening access to our expertise, collections and services to individual researchers, local schools, and others in the community.We are seeking an organised and efficient individual with excellent communication skills and experience of successfully managing complex processes and relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to undertake maternity leave cover as Manchester Digital Collections Content Coordinator.Manchester Digital Collections (MDC) is the University’s sector leading collections digital image viewer, developed in a partnership with the University of Cambridge. MDC continues to unleash the incredible research potential of the University of Manchester Library’s outstanding Special Collections and other cultural assets of the University of Manchester. Integrating high-resolution images with rich TEI metadata and researcher-generated content, MDC draws on expertise from a wide range of professionals across the Library. Manchester Digital Exhibitions (MDE) is the University’s specialist exhibitions platform which showcases collections and research from the wider University. These platforms together forms a core part of the Library’s digital collections research offer.As MDC Content Coordinator, you will manage the successful planning, coordination and delivery of digital collection projects through MDC, engaging closely with collection care, imaging, metadata and developer teams to ensure flexibility, innovation and sustainability in our delivery. You will require excellent project management, planning and communication skills to liaise between Library teams and project leads (in research projects, the Library and the University’s cultural institutions), to ensure that the creation and ingest of content is managed efficiently and that images and metadata adhere to agreed standards.You will oversee a team of cross-directorate specialists and line manage colleagues with direct engagement in MDC and MDE, ensuring coordination and communication across specialist teams and project stakeholders. During this period, one priority of the role will be to seek ways to better align, streamline and integrate existing processes and relationships between MDC and MDE, centring researchers, collections and our user communities. We will also seek to better understand our existing users and seek to expand our reach and impact. You will advocate for MDC and MDE across the Library, including representation in digital collections governance and research project groups, and beyond as part of the wider Digital Collections Consortium.What you will get in return:
