Through our varied activities we provide a creative home for all makers and materials enthusiasts to collaborate, innovate, contemplate and experience materials and making from a wide range of disciplines.About the roleIn this dynamic role, the post-holder will manage the day-to-day administration and operation of the materials Library collections including caring for, labelling and cleaning the physical samples, organising the storage systems, and updating and maintaining databases across the Bloomsbury and Stratford sites.The post-holder should be highly organised with a keen attention to detail. They should have highly developed interpersonal skills and should be approachable, enthusiastic and able to work with a wide range of people.In addition, the postholder will focus on creating playful and engaging multi-sensory materials displays and imaginatively improving the Materials Library’s digital catalogue and other user interfaces to make them enticing to multidisciplinary staff and students at UCL, as well as our growing public audiences.Please note that if you have any questions about this role, the Institute of Making staff won’t be available until Monday 6th January.About youThe successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following criteria:Excellent understanding and appreciation of a broad range of materials, their properties, and making processes.Experience of creating engaging, playful and thoughtful multi-sensory displays, installations or artworks with a range of materials or objects.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex materials-related content to a wide variety of people.Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with an ability to deliver projects to a high standard, on time and on budget.
