Materials Engineer

Materials Engineer Redditch £43 – 45k Monday Friday We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Engineer to join an expanding technical team within a leading aerospace manufacturer. This is a role is based in in a large ISO 17025 and NADCAP accredited laboratory that interfaces directly with a multi-faceted hot metal manufacturing operation. Regular responsibilities for a Materials Engineer Support the leadership of the laboratory team of circa 20 heads To uphold the responsibilities of and ensure conformance by all Metallurgists and Technicians to all specifications, manuals, procedures, and instructions related to the Laboratory function. Control of test non-conformances and carrying out investigations into test failures. Co-ordinate with other departments to ensure that the best quality of service is maintained to our customers Provide technical input to design and heat treatment of new and Repeat Product Introductions. Present technical information to senior technical and commercial colleagues To act as a source of advice and training for technicians, junior members of the laboratory and engineering in order to grow and develop technical talents. We want to hear from you if you have any of the following skills: Relevant degree level education (metallurgy, material science, engineering) Experience working in a diverse alloy environment with knowledge of titanium, aluminium, steel and other special alloys. Strong understanding of aerospace quality and audit requirements Heat treatment or other NADCAP special processes experience would be beneficial but not essential Strong communication skills with the ability to present to technical and commercial colleagues
