Job Description:The Maritime Area Iberia, Italy includes all maritime business activities and operates with two Service Lines: Newbuilding and Certification/Verification of Materials and Components (NB&CMC), while Fleet in Service (FiS) is organised as part of business Unit FiS West Europe.We are looking for a Surveyor to join our NB&CMC team in Italy, reporting to the local line manager.Our customers require a wide range of certification activities: from materials and welding procedures to pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, gears, thrusters, electrical installations, automation systems, lifting appliances, complex offshore packages. The classification of big and complex ships, from design phase to final delivery, is part of our service portfolio.From this traditional background, we started a journey covering also advanced future technology: fuel cells, new types of turbines, advanced electrical drives, and lithium batteries for ship propulsion, to name a few.We aim to be the front runner in innovation, digitalization, and customer centricity. Based on this ambition, new ways of working are continuously assessed and implemented for various disciplines. Recent examples are electronic certificates, remote inspections, additive manufacturing, sensor-based maintenance, alternative fuels, autonomous ships. Customer needs and carbon footprint reduction are key priorities in our activities.Main responsibilities:

  • Certification and verification of materials and components underclass and non-class related systems and processes
  • Manage a group of customers and interact with colleagues from all over the world to follow up on their needs
  • Be the advisor of our customers to guide them in the regulatory landscape of the maritime industry and support their development
  • Perform newbuilding surveys on passenger ships according to rules and regulations
  • Ensure smooth execution of projects in collaboration with the project manager and his/ her team on site
  • Conduct all activities in a safe manner with due regard to your own safety and the safety of others

  • Master/bachelor’s degree in marine/mechanical/electrical engineering (or other relevant disciplines)
  • Min. 5 years of experience in the Maritime Industry
  • Competence and knowledge in electrical and control & monitoring will be beneficial
  • Excellent written and spoken business-standard English is essential
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Willingness to frequently travel within the country and occasionally within the Area/Region is crucial
  • Availability to relocate based on business needs
