Your Job:

The topic of the Master`s thesis is “Using (non-)linear multigrid and domain decomposition method in discontinuous Galerkin method”. Your tasks will include:

  • Implementation of domain decomposition method to solve a PDE discretized by discontinuous Galerkin finite element method
  • Implementation of multigrid and modify domain decomposition method so that it can be used as a smoother for the multigrid
  • Study the convergence of the solvers for a specific PDE

Your Profile:

  • You are studying mathematics, computer science, engineering or a related discipline and you are looking for a Master`s thesis topic, ideally already discussing with one of your professors
  • You are well versed in Python for implementing numerical methods
  • Being familiar with the finite element method is advantageous
  • Your are familiar with the numerical solution of partial differential equations
  • Social and communication skills for cooperative collaboration in interdisciplinary teams are among your strength
  • You have a very good command of written and spoken English
