Overview:IDC’s European Data, Analytics, AI, and Automation team is looking for a RESEARCH ANALYST to help develop, articulate, and drive research across IDC’s European AI and Automation research programs. IDC is looking for a research analyst who can contribute to new thinking around, for example, the impact of generative AI, AI use cases, AI regulation, and technology alliances on AI and automation technology and adoption.The Research Analyst will gain valuable insights and knowledge on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, RPA, workflow technologies, process intelligence, and the broader Automation space and gradually build a personal brand. This is a highly visible position that requires the candidate to participate in new research initiatives, help develop impactful market insights and quantitative market analysis research, participate in business development activities, and over time assume speaking engagements. Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the team by:
- Leading and growing IDC’s market-leading research into AI and automation market trends.
- Publishing thought leadership research papers on various AI and automation topics, highlighting the implications for technology vendors and buyer organizations.
- Providing insightful and relevant comments on industry events, particularly how related market trends (including regulation, government industrial strategies, the development of technology ecosystems and more) impact AI and automation development and adoption.
- Gradually becoming a ‘face’ of IDC’s coverage of AI and automation in Europe, presenting at IDC and external events.
- Supporting the delivery of AI and automation market intelligence briefings for clients.
- Contributing to and gradually taking ownership of consulting projects, responding to client enquires, collaborating on wider research documents
- Working with IDC’s quantitative market sizing and forecasting team, as a contributor to market definition, sizing and forecasting deliverables.
Qualifications:The ideal candidate will come from an analyst, consulting, or technology industry background, though candidates with relevant technology journalism experience will also be considered as strong contenders. The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate:
- A strong interest in current and future AI and automation challenges and strategies that organizations are dealing with. The person must seek to understand how AI and automation technologies affect business outcomes and how technology dynamics will affect these outcomes in the future.
- A BA/BS college degree is required with a preference towards a graduate-level MBA/MA/MS degree.
- Previous experience related to market research, enterprise software, and/or business applications would be advantageous.
- Practical knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies coupled with data analysis skills would be advantageous.
- Excellent written communication and presentation communication skills, and the ability to write and deliver content to deadlines. Fluency in written and oral English is required. Fluency in a second European language would be advantageous.
- The ability to deliver to deadlines, and work under pressure with good attention to detail.
- The ability to learn new topics or material quickly, a curious and growth-oriented mindset, and the ability to think independently.
