MISSIONPerforming and Coordinating Global Optimization activities within the “Short Term Asset Optimization – EU department, in the Global Energy Management Platform.This function is mainly focused on the analysis of all energy markets and modelling of optimization models for the energy sales in the Day Ahead and Intraday Markets. Research and analysis in the several markets in which EDP is operating to develop the optimal market bidding strategies in the different European markets where EDPR participates on the energy markets (Day ahead/intraday market).Also, responsible to cooperate and coordinate all the IT developments for digitalization of the models and to implement an intelligent bidding strategy for all the markets including Algo-Trading bots in all possible markets.MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Analysis of different energy markets evolution and proficient domain of the fundamentals of those markets
  • Development of optimization and forecasting models to maximize the revenues from the sale of electricity and improvements on the imbalance costs in all different European electricity markets (both theoretical and programming).
  • Conduct analysis of existing market strategies and propose strategy updates and improvement actions according to the real performance.
  • Sustain the departmental reporting line to internal and external stakeholders (both periodic and special reports).
  • Define, develop and update all the necessary tools to ensure an efficient market operations strategy:
  • Bidding tools required for the execution of the operations on the different markets.
  • Adoc studies for new market opportunities and support EDPR or other third party companies with all market analysis.
  • Ensure the consolidation of all the variables needed for the model’s execution (GEMOS and internal models).
  • Provide the Market Operations Unit – Front Office with the bidding tools and support them in all market operations related activities (provide trainings on the existing tools, support on problem solving activities once incidents occur, support on the strategy decision taking activities…).
  • Support other departments by providing services/information related to market operations strategies and performance.

REQUIRED PROFILE1. REQUIRED ACADEMIC SKILLS:

  • Undergraduate required; preferred degrees in Engineering, Physics or Maths science.

2. LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Experience working in English and Spanish.
  • Familiar with market jargon is valuable.

3. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:Experience in one or more of the following areas: electricity/energy markets, models optimization and development, renewable regulation, finance.4. IT SKILLS:The following skills are critical:– Domain of Excel and other Office package.– Required programming knowledge (R, Phyton, VBA, Matlab or others).– Ability to manage databases.– Expertise in business analytics tools such as Power BI.5. KNOWLEDGE:Responsible, organized, analytical, problem solving.6. OTHERExperience working independently, team and problem solving oriented. Used to work in an international environment and different geographies.
