The Role

Our Maritime Fleet Workforce team are looking to welcome a Maritime Training Manager to deliver the training strategy and maintain a Maritime and HESS (Health, Environment, Safety and Security) training programme to ensure compliance with International, National, and internal policies for Nautical, Technical, and HESS training.

Reducing the risk of human error through effective training of our personnel, this role ensures that training plans and activities support the requirements of the CUK fleet which aids and enables success.

You will

  • Develop, maintain and deliver a Maritime Training Plan and financial forecast that delivers continuous improvement and meets the requirements of both CUK and ABG.

  • Co-ordinate maritime expertise to ensure that the Maritime training portfolio is relevant, meets internal and external requirements and is delivered effectively.

  • Manage and control the Maritime Training budget (c £2-3m), identifying risks and opportunities and understanding variance to forecast.

  • In conjunction with the Fleet People Operations Training Compliance team, ensure CUK ships are staffed with appropriately qualified and competent personnel.

  • Maintain oversight of the Maritime Training Curriculum – HESS, Deck and Technical – and ensure that any new internal or external training requirements are captured through the Training Governance process.

  • Liaise directly with external authorities (Flag State) & internal auditors (RAAS) on issues and risks related to Maritime & HESS training

Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK07 and is offered on a full time, permanent basis, with hybrid working in our Southampton office, a minimum of 3 days per week. Due to the nature of our training partnerships both within the UK and internationally, travel across these areas would occasionally be required.

About You

Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:

  • Previous background in the cruise or Maritime sectors in a Deck or Technical role

  • Ideally experienced working with Flag States with regard STCW requirements

  • Excellent planning and project management skills, including budget management ideally within a training context

  • Strong background in managing and maintaining quality standards and processes, including auditing and evaluation, ideally within a training background

  • Experience of Learning Management Systems and blended learning
