External Job Description

For the Headquarter located in Milan, Italy, we are seeking a Marine Installation Engineer to join our team. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for office-based engineering work and offshore execution on all marine installation sites activities for submarine cable installation projects on an international scale.

This role requires a balance of technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to adapt to different working environments. 

Your role: 

Installation Engineering: 

  • Prepare Installation Documentation: operative procedures, calculations, drawings, plans, time schedules, and risk assessments for cable installation activities,
  • Define, select, prepare Installation Assets: appropriate vessels, burial machines, and general installation equipment.
  • Technical responsibility in Subcontractor Selection and supervision: preparing specifications for technical documents in the request for quotation. Supervision during the installation phase.
  • Quality, Health and Safety, Environment, and Company Asset Care: must ensure compliance with company policies, requirements, and best practices.
  • Client Relationship: interaction and coordination with clients’ representatives on site
  • Interface with Company Departments: such as Installation Department, Project Management, Manufacturing, System Engineering, Quality is required.
  • Interaction and involvement with Project Clients: discussing technical, planning, and operative aspects.

Marine Operation – Offshore Installation Sites: 

This part of the role covers the operative execution on all marine installation sites activities for a Project. The activity is carried out on installation vessels or more in general, on other marine installation sites, such as landing points, offshore platforms, etc. 

  • Preliminary Works: coordinate the preparation of the site for cable installation, including route clearance, PLGR, pre-lay burial runs, and mobilization of vessels.
  • Managing and monitoring the Installation Process: oversees and manages the cable loading, laying, and burial processes ensuring that these operations are carried out correctly and according to plan.

The successful candidate: 

  • Preferred Bachelor’s or Master’s Degrees in Engineering Technology or other Engineering related subjects.
  • Preferable but not mandatory experience in a role involved in installation of submarine cable but more in general in the construction, Oil & Gas, Offshore industry. To be noted that Prysmian has a dedicated training and development process within Marine Operations department, since the sector is very specific.
  • This role requires significant travel on an international basis
