About the jobOver the last couple of years, Vattenfall´s internal IT organization has grown to more than 1.500 technology experts and digitalization enthusiasts. As part of it, Customer IT develops and operates specialized solutions closely together with business colleagues to create value for our end-consumers, automate business processes and execute regulatory requirements. We want to enable consumers to become fossil free within one generation. Our main internal business partner is Customer & Solutions with whom we cooperate closely. Customer IT Germany, centered around our German business demand, is divided into seven teams each having a clearly set focus and strategic mission. One of this teams primarily relies on Polish IT talent and is responsible for the continuous development, scalable operation and uninterrupted performance of our German self-service portals as well as our national corporate landing page. For this team we are looking for a new manager.You will be responsible for Online/Web Portals GermanyOnline/Web Portals is a recently formed new team with about 17 Engineers. The team is responsible for the German self-service portal ( ), our national landing page (www.vattenfall.de) as well as a range of web/mobile white-label products ( ) and a portfolio of bespoke tools boosting Vattenfall´s operational excellence. These products are used by millions of customers and thousands of internal employees. We develop new features using Azure cloud services where we leverage mostly Angular. However, for certain products also Java and other frameworks are used.You will report to the Head of Customer IT Germany, Carsten Schrijver, who is located in Berlin, Germany.What will you do?Your main objectives for the first 6 – 12 months
- Inspire, build and shape the identity and mission of your new, recently formed team,
- Establish a trustworthy and fruitful network to your peers within both, the strong Polish Vattenfall IT organization (more than 400 Polish IT colleagues!) as well as into the Customer IT Germany Management Team and your German/international co-workers,
- Determine a long-term product roadmap for your assigned services based on explored business demand, proposed new innovations as well as any pending lifecycle requirements; evaluate international growth opportunities,
- Foster and advance a more consultative spirit and approach on all levels. From “executing story points” to a more proactive proposal of efficiency measures or identified automation opportunities,
- Familiarize yourself with Vattenfall processes and tools.
Your future responsibilities
- Manage, motivate and inspire your team members as well as contracted external consultants working from both, Poland and Germany as DevOps Engineers or SCRUM Masters in an agile/SCRUM context,
- Ensure your team has right people, skills and capacity meeting current and envisioned future deliveries. This means to balance capacity and delivery needs through a combination of offering/promotion, assignment management, recruitment, sourcing and personal development,
- Effectively staff squads/DevOps teams and assign products and projects,
- Effectively collaborate with business stakeholders to understand the local architectural context, shape short-term requirements as well as long-term product vision,
- Drive personnel development and recruitment in accordance with HR process incl. short- to mid-term resource planning (internals/externals),
- Monitor workload, work-life balance and motivation of all team members,
- Oversee and manage various KPI including team-budget and fulfilment of service-level agreements,
- Act as system manager for assigned products (SLA).
LocationKatowice/Gliwice or remotely in PolandYour profileWho are you?You are an experienced manager with a track-record leading employees and other stakeholders in times of change and hold an academic degree in engineering or business administration.We believe the following factors to contribute to your success:
- Either a minimum of 4 years’ experience in managing a team or a respective track-record being a project manager / agile leader e.g. SCRUM master,
- Significant experience in agile methods and principles e.g. as Agile coach, SCRUM master or similar,
- Strong management and communication skills; you are a problem solver and your collaboration skills promote an effective collaboration with business leaders/stakeholders and IT peers alike,
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and follow-through,
- Perfect command of the Polish/English language (German would be an advantage),
- Demonstrated personal experience in software engineering (knows tools and technics to build software products based on cloud and on premise environments),
- Result oriented with a strong drive to reach targets by organizing own and teams’ work,
- Have hands-on personality with proven experience in requirements management and corresponding methodologies.
