Job Overview:

The Manager Communications requires an in-depth understanding of Communications concepts, theories, and principles and basic knowledge of other related disciplines. They must be able to apply an understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness, provide guidance, and influence processes and policies for the Communications discipline, as well as identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact effectiveness. The Manager Communications affect the level of service and the Communication steam’s ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives. Decisions made by the Manager Communications should be guided by policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute communications, public relations and marketing strategy with appropriate metrics and goals to ensure that the program is generating awareness for McDermott and its projects and services, as well as develop an increased understanding of the company’s leadership in the target market segments

  • Manage internal communications strategy and execution; build and maintain effective/cooperative work relationships with key members of the management and functional leadership; as well as write and edit internal communications

  • Lead the internal document approval processes, which includes draft announcements and secure all necessary approvals

  • Seek and identify opportunities to leverage the company’s Intranet and all other internal communications tactics to drive employee engagement, satisfaction, and productivity

  • Develop networks throughout the business to capture important company news and information, develop content and output, and filter through corporate, if applicable, such as but not limited to:

  • Local news

  • Corporate headlines

  • Press releases

  • Announcements

  • Presentations, technical articles, conference papers

  • Marketing collateral

  • Serve as the contact point for marketing requests, lead message development appropriate to the product line and location

  • Provide support to events such as executive meetings, visits, presentations, etc.

  • Handle customer requests such as approval of marketing and communication materials for internal or external release

  • Support other McDermott-driven activities such as volunteer/charity/ community events, recruitment campaigns, internal messaging campaigns, etc.

  • Manage McDermott’s social and digital presence, which includes creating integrated plans and strategies that maximize the McDermott brand across social media platforms. Develop and publish engagement content across corporate social media platforms, which include Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. Monitor, listen and respond to followers. Moderate any posts that are deemed defamatory, fraudulent, or misleading

  • Protect and enhance McDermott’s brand equity by developing, maintaining, and enforcing brand standards aligned with the company’s external strategy and vision. Implement a consistent visual identity for creative design at the global, area, and local levels of the organization

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Communications or other related fields required

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Communications and Marketing

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to execute external and internal communications strategies that are aligned with business goals and objectives

  • Experience should include news writing, speechwriting, employee communications, and proofreading ability

  • Experience working in a publicly traded company is preferred

  • Experience in Oil & Gas Industry is preferred

  • Experience working in a public relations firm is a bonus
