Role Overview

The Market Development Manager works within the central Sales/Go-to-Market team within the English Language Learning (ELL) business, with a key focus on the PTE (Pearson Test of English) suite of tests. This role reports to the Senior Director, Global Stakeholder Relations. As we continue to expand our Language Testing services, this role plays a key part in identifying and supporting emerging markets and new opportunities for PTE. The role has an international outlook, dealing with both internal and external stakeholders across the world.

High Level Responsibilities

  • Leveraging and understanding data to size the market opportunity accessible for PTE

  • Interpreting the market sizing data, along with country specific information, to identify and prioritise the opportunities

  • Working in conjunction with regional colleagues to scope and unlock the identified opportunities, including recognition and sales activities

  • Reporting on progress against priorities

  • Work closely with the channel team (ELL and Pearson VUE) to prioritise the needs of the region, including supporting the development of business cases.

  • Utilising product and operational expertise to advise and support regions in the characteristics of the product, the PTE operating model and its operationalisation

  • Establish and maintain appropriate partnerships to support growth of PTE in each geo

  • Support the assessment, scoping and delivery of ad-hoc or discrete projects and opportunities which require expert input.

  • Maintaining an in depth and up to date understanding of market and competitor activities and dynamics, ensuring key information is systematically shared with the wider team and geographies

  • Representing English Language Learning as the developers of PTE at key conferences, meetings and events and where regions have the need for expert support in their engagement with key stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to source, analyse and interpret data for commercial opportunities

  • Commitment to a collaborative working environment

  • Project management capability

  • Experience in international higher education in a sales consultancy or operational capacity

  • A few years of experience in a similar or complementary role – essential

  • Experience in language assessment – preferred

  • Knowledge of international migration

  • Degree qualified

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Ability to communicate (oral and written) with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of seniority

  • Comfortable with a matrix organisational
