The interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University invites applications for a permanent academic position (AC/TAP), whose main tasks will be in single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy within the ASiMoF infrastructure (www.ASiMoF.au.dk). The position includes research and administrative support duties at the iNANO Center at Aarhus University. The starting date is 1st of July 2024 or as soon as possibleExpected start date and duration of employment This is a permanent position starting from July 1st 2024.Job description The ASiMoF infrastructure brings together single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy tools to go beyond ensemble studies for imaging structural dynamics and molecular interactions in different environments, in solution, on surfaces and in cells. These single molecule fluorescence approaches aim to enable new views of molecular structure and function in nano- and bio-systems.We offer an application scientist and infrastructure manager job opportunity in an ambitious and inspiring research and education environment with an informal atmosphere. The position involves good possibilities for personal development including participation in workshops and/or conferences for continuous training in state-of-the-art single molecule fluorescence approaches.The position tasks include:
– organizing access to and maintenance of the ASiMoF instrumentation
– training users and aiding them in planning their experiments
– implementing and maintaining new approaches to single molecule fluorescence microscopy
– developing tailor-made solutions for optimal control of the sample environment in microscopy experiments
– development and maintenance of data analysis methods within single molecule fluorescence
– advanced applications of single molecule fluorescence with users
– Infrastructure outreach and visibility, e.g. workshops, social media etc.
– Different administrative duties at iNANO and the Department of Chemistry, including some support of teaching and trans-departmental initiativesYour profile The candidate must have a masters in biophysics, chemistry, nanoscience or related subjects and preferably PhD experience. He/she must have a strong background in experimental biophysics. Hands on experience in single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy is required. We are looking for a dynamic employee who is able to work independently and maintain an overview during periods of high workloads. We expect you to be efficient at planning your time and organizing major tasks. You enjoy interaction with both scientific staff, students and technical-administrative staff and you have a flair for establishing collaborative and interdisciplinary relationships.Who we are iNANO, Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center ( ), is a major research and education center based at the Faculty of Natural Science at Aarhus University, hosting 60 senior scientists, ~100 postdocs and ~80 PhD students. The center combines expertise from Physics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology and Medicine to carry out world-class interdisciplinary research in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
The ASiMoF infrastructure is maintained and developed in collaboration with the research group of Associate Professor Victoria Birkedal who leads the infrastructure.
