Offer DescriptionThe postholder will work on the SiLSA project, which aims to study the acquisition of French Sign Language syntax as part of an ANR projectThe postholder will work with the principal investigator and two deaf informants to:
– Systematically study the lexical and syntactic comprehension of LSF between the ages of 6 and 13.
– Systematically study the lexical and syntactic comprehension of French between 8 and 13 years of age
– Produce learning curves for complex sentences in LSF and French according to the children’s educational context
– Design and implement a battery of tests to test comprehension of complex sentences in LSF
– Collect data from Deaf children aged 6 to 13
– Communicate their results in conferences and journals
– Help organise a conference on the acquisition of signed languages.The person will be employed by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), hosted by UMR 7023 – SFL, located at 59 rue Pouchet, 75017 Paris. – the ability to deal with the syntactic study of the properties of complex sentences within the generative framework ;
– some knowledge of language test batteries
– skills and interest in careful and detailed empirical research ;
– an interest in working collaboratively with hearing and deaf participants;
– some command of research/communication languages (ideally, but not necessarily, near-native competence in a sign language, with the intention of learning French sign language, and a good level in at least English).
