Dr. , established at the Department of Humanities of the (Barcelona), is willing to endorse candidates interested in submitting a proposal for the MSCA-PF is some of these domains: inner speech, mental action, thought, thinking, consciousness, cognitive phenomenology, affordances, autism, mental health. In particular, she is particularly interested in topics in philosophy of mind, psychology and psychiatry, including projects on inner speech, mental action, thought and thinking, cognitive phenomenology, consciousness, affordances, and autism. She would also welcome projects on feminist theory, specially on intersectionality, social categories, gender and sexuality.

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships scheme (MSCA-PF) is a prestigious European funding programme that supports mobility, career development, and training within and beyond Europe. The scheme offers highly competitive salary and research costs.

About us

Dr. Jorba is Serra Húnter Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Barcelona. Before that she was Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She has also been adjunct professor at the University of Girona and Teaching and Research Fellow at University College Dublin, Ireland. She got her degree in Philosophy (extraordinary award), master in Language and Cognitive Science (CCiL) and PhD in Philosophy (with international mention) from the University of Barcelona. She has spent visiting research periods at the Center for Subjectivity Research, University of Copenhagen (Denmark), New York University (USA), and Universidade Federal do Paraná (Brasil).

Main research areas:

  • Philosophy of mind and psychology, phenomenology: cognitive phenomenology, thought and thinking, consciousness, inner speech, affordances, autism.
  • Feminist philosophy: intersectionality, social categories, gender, sexuality.

The Department of Humanities has been very successful in obtaining MSCA-PF projects: since 2015, 25 researchers have joined the Department with such contracts.

Eligibility criteria

MSCA-PF are for Postdoctoral Researchers of up to 8 years after the PhD. Applicants from any country may apply, but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the submission deadline to the European Commission (11/09/2024).

Selection process

Applicants should check that they fulfil all the eligibility criteria and then send an expression of interest consisting of a CV, a summary presentation of the research proposal (c. 2 pages) and the contact information of at least two referees.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by email by March 15th. The title of the e-mail must be “MSCA application – Dr. Marta Jorba – your name and surname”

Proposals will be preselected on the basis of internal evaluation.

Support program

In addition to receiving multiple feedback from your supervisor, if chosen to submit the proposal to the European Commission, you will also receive advice from a dedicated research advisor at UPF’s Research Service, who will provide you feedback three times (mid June, mid July, end August). Additionally, you will be invited to join an internal Info session where you will get to know the do’s and don’ts of these fellowships.
