To provide a best in class legal service to Hertz International, supporting Hertz’s EMEA operations through its Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands and Probus insurance business.

All round commercial lawyer handling a broad range of international legal affairs in the following areas:

Key Responsibilities

Legal business partner for commercial teams of the European business and assisting others as needed, including:

• Sales : supporting European sales teams (e.g. corporate sales agreements, brokers, travel management companies and partnership agreements) with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, general legal advice and handling commercial disputes.

• Procurement : supporting European procurement teams, including drafting and negotiating a range of contracts, licences & development agreements, IT & SaaS agreements, providing general legal advice and handling commercial disputes.

• Marketing : providing legal support to the European marketing team, including advising on marketing communications, promotions, website content, cookie compliance and new products.

Likely areas of activity/ development

An opportunity to work in a wide range of legal areas at an international level, which may include:

• E-commerce/ websites/ rental terms : advising the European business on consumer law issues relating to website design, and consumer facing terms and conditions and consumer law compliance in general.

• Public affairs & Lobbying : working on a range of corporate affairs issues at EU and UK levels in a rapidly changing mobility sector.

• IP : assisting with management of the International region’s trademark portfoliio.

• Corporate : assisting with M&A projects arising within the European business and company secretarial compliance for our European entities.

• Compliance & Governance : assisting with general compliance responsibilities for our European operations.

• Data protection : awareness of privacy principles would be an advantage, in particular in relation to GDPR clauses for commercial contracts.

Background & aptitude

• Qualified lawyer with c 3-6 years pqe. The successful candidate will have a grounding in commercial contracts and relish the opportunity to broaden their range through the areas above.

• Proactive approach, strong initiative and ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines for the business.

• Excellent commercial acumen, passionate about the success and strategy of the business.

• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

• Experience in an in-house legal department would be advantageous, but not essential.
