We are a leading agro-food multinational, looking for a dynamic and experienced Legal Counsel specialized in commercial law and compliance to join our legal team in Brussels. In this generalist role, you will handle a broad spectrum of legal matters, including corporate law, intellectual property (IP) law, and regulatory compliance.

  • Provide legal advice on commercial contracts and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Corporate law: provide oversight on subsidiary maintenance and corporate governance of the European subsidiaries of the group
  • Handle intellectual property (IP) matters, including trademark protection, licensing agreements, and infringement issues.
  • Oversee compliance with relevant local and international regulations, particularly those affecting the agro-food industry.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, sales, operations) to provide legal insights that support business decisions.
  • Review and draft a variety of legal documents including contracts, agreements, and other relevant materials.
  • Assist with internal investigations, audits, and risk assessments related to compliance matters.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings or disputes, including liaising with external counsel as necessary.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory requirements that may impact the business, and provide timely updates and training to internal stakeholders.

Leader in the agro-food industry|Multinational company

  • Master’s degree in Law (LL.M or equivalent) with specialization in commercial law, competition law, and/or IP law.
  • 5-10 years of experience as a legal counsel or lawyer, preferably with experience in both law firm and in-house environments.
  • Expertise in commercial law, corporate law, intellectual property, and compliance.
  • Bilingual in Dutch and French (both written and spoken), with proficiency in English being a plus.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Prior experience in the agro-food industry or a regulated environment is an advantage.
