The Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies at the University of Bath is looking to recruit a Lecturer (Teaching) to join our friendly, dynamic and supportive team.
About the role
You will share our commitment to teaching excellence and will support our successful and renowned undergraduate programmes in Politics and International Relations, Politics with Economics and postgraduate programmes. You’ll contribute to modules in International Relations, foreign policy, Research Methods, international comparative politics, international organisations and depending on need on US politics and foreign policy and political theory.
You will be responsible for preparing and delivering lectures and seminars, setting and marking assessments, as well as for the supervision of undergraduate dissertation students, and the provision of pastoral support to students as a personal tutor. We will also support you to undertake responsibilities as Director of Studies for some of our Politics and International Relations programmes as soon as possible after appointment.
This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.
About the Department
The Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies is committed to teaching and research excellence. It is top 10 for Politics in the Guardian University Guide 2023 and the Complete University Guide 2023. We have particular research strengths in Conflict and Security, Gender and Representation, Democracy, as well as in reactionary politics, memory politics and international relations.
The Department also hosts a newly established Centre for the Study of Violence. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Department and will be integrated within the research groups, and will benefit from professional development opportunities (e.g. support in getting FHEA qualifications, mentorship).
