The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Asian History (c. 1500-2000), focussing on either East Asian History/History of China or History of the Indian Ocean World (Research & Teaching Track) within the School of Humanities.The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by undertaking research of international excellence, contributing to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline, and delivering learning and teaching on agreed programmes, with a particular focus on growing our Masters programme in Global History and teaching our pre-Honours and Honours cohorts. The successful applicant will undertake administration and service activities in line with the School and College’s strategic objectives.Expertise is sought in any aspect of Asian History between c.1500 and c.2000, though applications are particularly welcome from candidates demonstrating expertise in either East Asia, particularly the History of China, and/or the History of the Indian Ocean World. The successful candidate will make a significant research and leadership contribution to the Global History research cluster but will also work as part of the large and dynamic History subject within the School, which has particular areas of strength including Gender History, Scottish and Celtic Studies, Slavery Studies, American Studies, and War Studies.Please contact Professor Steven Reid ( ) Head of History Subject, with any informal enquiries relating to the post.
