The Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Copenhagen University Hospital at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital is looking for a Leading Consultant (ledende overlæge in danish terminology) in Clinical Biochemistry. If this sounds like the job for you, please send in your application as soon as possible.The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Clinical Biochemistry with special focus on Clinical Proteomics and Metabolism at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.About the department Clinical biochemistry is a central part of any patient process, and our department provides 24-hour service to Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital, general practitioners / specialist doctors, psychiatry, and several private hospitals. The department produces approximately 10 million analyzes annually, including highly specialized analyzes (neuropeptides, drugs, and medication) and is DANAK accredited to the ISO15189 standard. The Clinical Biochemistry Department has approximately 160 employees, including head of department, one consultant and a leading consultant, three specialist registrar physician, two chemists, as well as medical laboratory technologists, secretaries, and other personnel.Clinical functions and focus areas of the department The department’s doctors assist with their expertise on rational requests, provide interpretation of analysis responses and participate in the development of new analysis in close collaboration with specialized Medical Laboratory Technologist. The department has specialized functions regarding drug abuse and other LC-MS based analyses. With a new focus on proteomics / peptidomics we hope to generate new insights in clinical biomarkers. The department also trains Medical Laboratory Technologist, medical students and educate future specialist physicians in clinical biochemistry.You can read more about the Clinical Biochemistry Department on the websiteResearch and teaching With the new position as leading consultant in Clinical Biochemistry combined with the already appointed clinical professor of Clinical Biochemistry with special focus on Clinical Proteomics and Metabolism, the Department of Clinical Biochemistry wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.Qualifications Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Clinical Biochemistry and must have:
- a strong background in clinical biochemistry, mass spectrometry, clinical proteomics and metabolism
- proven experience in teaching and supervising medical students, PhD students, and post docs
- good collaboration, interpersonal and communicative skills
- experience in leading laboratory analytical sections as:
- Point of care testing (POCT)
- Proteomics
- Drugs of abuse
- Copenhagen Center for Translational Research
- External project organization
- Data and IT team
Conditions Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant is already appointed clinical professor of Clinical Biochemistry with special focus on Clinical Proteomics and Metabolism at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.As clinical professor, at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Bispebjerg Frederiksberg Hospital. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the department of the Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Bispebjerg Frederiksberg Hospital. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Bispebjerg Frederiksberg Hospital.Application procedure The application must include the following:
