Job Description Summary Within the AvioAero Advanced Technology Organization, the Engine Performance & Operability section is responsible for the definition of the engine performance, notably steady state, transient & operability, from the initial phase of the New Product Introduction development, post preliminary design, until the engine certification, including ground and flight testing validation.The Performance & Operability Lead Engineer will join the team to lead the Performance & Operability work scope on the assigned projects, both for Military and Commercial products, notably engine performance analysis, transient model development, engine operability assessment, model validation by engine ground and flight testing, certification reports.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesThe Performance & Operability Lead Engineer responsibilities include:Work cross functionally with Controls, Operability, Systems, Aero, Heat Transfer, and hardware design engineers to accurately model and validate engine performanceLead efforts to validate and update the engine performance model according to internal practice/standard and test evidenceLead cross functional teams in preparation of performance audits and program design/technical reviewsEffectively communicate, present technical data and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customersUtilize the latest thermodynamic modeling tools to analyze engine performance & operability data and provide technical direction to make program decisionsLiaise with the Controls organization to define the power management and performance control/limiting schedulesContribute to definition of engine operability requirements (e.g. compressor stability, inclement weather, transient scheduling)Support operability tasks during test validation and engine certification phaseLead engine test planning, coverage and data analysis for engine testsProvide technical guidance, direction and training to less experienced engineersShare engineering information and promote open dialogueEnsure proper documentation of all work.Qualifications/RequirementsMaster’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or collegeExperience in engineering position in aerospace industry in a similar role in Performance, Operability, Transient Analysis and/or ControlsDemonstrated experience in engine thermodynamic modeling and test data support and analysisStrong analytical skills and knowledge of thermodynamics and aerodynamicsFluency in English (speaking and writing/reading)Work Visa, according to local regulation, is requiredDesired CharacteristicsExperience in a performance related positionPrior Turboprop/Turbofan/Turbojet engine experiencePrior engine qualification and/or certification experiencePrevious experience with industry or GE thermodynamic modeling tools, especially NPSSFamiliarity with simulation tools and high level program languages (C++, MATLAB, FORTRAN etc.)Effective in contributing in a cross-functional teamwork environmentIn-depth understanding of engineering technology and toolsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsPassionate, curious and enthusiastic for engineering challengesTeam worker and problem solverSolid oral and written communication skillsWhat we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes remote work and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
